The weather is finally cooling off and I’ve been taking advantage of it by adventuring with Finn. That means long walks to the beach, mornings spent in Southport around the waterfront, brunch outside, and hiking again!

Now that it is finally cool enough to adventure again, here are a few things I always have with us anytime we’re adventuring by car:

Fan for Kennel Even after it starts cooling off, I want to make sure Finn is comfortable in his kennel! I use this Ryobi fan – held on with a couple of bungee cords – to make sure the temp in Finn’s kennel is always cool!
Bluetooth Thermometer Speaking of cool, I want to know what the temp is in Finn’s kennel and this bluetooth thermometer makes that super simple!
Pet Travel Bag Even for short trips, I like to have supplies like an extra slip lead, paper towels (thanks to a puppy stint of car sickness), and a water bowl. This travel bag includes food and water containers and bowls is has plenty of room for all the other things we need to travel with!

Since I’ve been lucky enough to have a short little break from work this week (and last), I offered to give my parents a break from getting up early enough to walk, feed, and take care of their two dogs for a couple mornings. So for about 48 hours, I had not just my 2 (crazy) adorable dogs, but I had their 2 as well. Since the weather has been great (ie miserably hot and humid) and I finally have a fenced in yard I thought it would be easy just to put the dogs outside and let them play until they were worn out. What I didn’t count on was that none of the dogs would want to stay outside for long in the hot, hot, Southern summer weather. Even though they didn’t want to stay outside, they all behaved and had a great time playing together.
